It feels like I’ve been working non-stop since March 2020.
While things have been locked down, there hasn’t been a lot to do but work.
The work has been good and fun but it’s a grind.
Operating a marketing consultancy doesn’t give me the luxury to go dark but I’m trying to enjoy the summer and ease the throttle back.
As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to lose yourself in the business.
When you’re responsible for doing the work and hunting for new customers, it becomes a 24/7 operation.
It’s important and necessary to step back from the business.
Give yourself time to recharge and refresh.
Spend time with family and friends.
Pursue your passions and interests. For me, sports (hockey, tennis) is a key part of my mental and physical health.
It easy to be seduced by the notion that entrepreneurs need to work 60+ hours a week.
That’s an unhealthy approach to work and life. It’s out of balance and not a long-term proposition.
I’m spending July volunteering on a farm and doing some work. Here’s the view from my “office”.
