The 1-1-1-1 approach to really leverage LinkedIn

Want to get started with LinkedIn but not sure how?

Try the 1-1-1-1 approach.

It works like this:

One post a week.

Every Tuesday. 150 to 200 words.

It could be an opinion, an idea, a lesson, a tip, or comments on an article.

One comment a day on other people’s posts.

Pick someone who is relevant and industry, or someone that you would like to establish a relationship with.

A comment can range from 10 to 50 words.

One new connection a day

As you post content and leave comments, you will interact with more people. Make a connection request every day. Add a note to make it more personal.

– One conversation a week.

This is the hardest part of the 1-1-1-1 approach. You need to reach out to one of your connections and ask if they would be interested in jumping on a call.

You’re asking for 20 to 30 minutes of someone’s time. You’re not trying to sell anything. Make it clear that you’re simply interested in what they think or do.

The key to success on LinkedIn is consistency. The algorithm likes people to create content and engage on a regular basis.

The 1-1-1-1 approach is like improving your physical fitness.

On the first day, run 1K rather than 10K. It makes working out easy rather than hard.

Over time, you can exercise longer.

With LinkedIn, you start slow and if you like the experience and see the value, then you can become more active.
